As a member of the Manitoba Cricket Association (MCA) the Taverners CC enters a team, during the winter period Oct - April, in the Indoor Cricket Competitions.
Taverners games are played on Wednesday evenings (6pm) at the Burton Cummings Community Centre ( McDermot Ave at Arlington St), and the pressure and competition is intense to get a spot on the team for these games. The highlight of the week for many of the players is receiving "THE CALL" from the Captain on Monday nights advising of selection. We usually take in Fish and chips at Ducky's pregame (5pm)
On non-game days or in the period leading up to the official start of the competitions we attempt to get some "quality" practice time in. Players are paired off as batting partners and the object is not to be the lowest scoring pair as that can be expensive. The "winning pair" get to buy everyone else a pint at the Fox & Hounds on Portage - our winter "clubhouse"!
There are two competitions during the winter: October - December is 7-a-side and January - April is the 6-a-side.
